Barely finished Ian's Cobblestone before the big unwrapping. And he knew about it. He keeps up with my blog, and I didn't think that he did. Oh well. I'll do better next time. So no photos of him modeling it yet. He really liked it. Thought the neckline reminded him of a knight's chain mail. The color looks great on him. But then he never looks bad in a color. I just don't prefer to see him in oatmeal or those utterly boring non-colors he sometimes chooses. Once we wash and block it, I'm sure it will look better on him.
Started on a sweater for my nephew. Have quite some way to go on it, though it won't be too bad a chore. Was hypnotized by the fires we're keeping in our fireplace and wow, does that send me into a state of nothingness. Can't knit in front of a fire.
At some early point in my life I had this knitting fantasy. I was a grandmother with white hair pulled back into a bun. I sat in an overstuffed chair with my feet up on a footstool. And I knitted. There was a fire roaring in a fireplace, too. I have it all, except for the white hair in a bun and the children and grandchildren. Wondering how it is I can go directly to grandchildren without children?
Mostly I'm recovering from the holidays and reeking of smoke despite my shower this morning. Last night I started a fire in my fireplace, but after putting on a way-big log, got smoked out of the room. Maybe something was up with the damper? I never found out, but intermittently opened the front door to vent the smoke. At least my smoke detector works!
A new year means new knitting projects, but actually, I swear, I'm gonna work on my Dad's cabled possum vest and get it done and to him by Valentine's Day. That's my goal. Of course, I have the aforementioned nephew sweater to finish and a scarf to make for a colleague before completely turning my attention to that.
Y'all have yarn and fabric stores to recommend in Philadelphia? I'll be flying there on the 10th for ALA and should have some free time to devote to yarn, fabric, notions, what-not.

And Roxy grows like a weed!
