Didn't want to buy a seedless watermelon Saturday, but that's all they sold at Fresh Market. In my mind seeds equal flavor. After eating this very bland, essentially flavorless watermelon, that had not been chilled one bit (you know, that kills flavor), I believe that seeds equal flavor. Maybe it has to do with being locally grown, too. Have to wait and see what crops up at Farmer's Market this summer. So disappointing. Where is that overwhelming sweet watermelon flavor I recall from my childhood? Seems as though we used to salt it so it would not be so sweet. I'm not old enough that my taste buds are shot. Food should have a bit of flavor for another 15-20 years or so, at least.
