Showing my food failures lets you know that I'm not slick enough to get it right the first time. I decided to make Wal-Nutty Marbled Banana Bread because I had a few ripening bananas and I'd rather cook them than throw them away. Plus, the recipe intruiged me. I like marbled breads.
This was my first marbled bread. I hope it's not my last.
It was lovely in the mixing bowl. But I possibly portioned out too much of the batter for the chocolate part. The recipe said sixteen ounces. I didn't have anything to measure with. I was flummoxed. Should I use my scale? Or use my liquid measuring cup? Probably. After the fact, I think that's what I should have done. Yet, I didn't problem solve very well.
On the other hand, Elsa helped with various steps in the process. She whisked together the dry ingredients, and then I put her to work on the chocolate mixture. It was dense. She struggled with stirring it. It challenged me, too. It was lovely time spent together in the kitchen. Perhaps that's what I attribute my love of cooking to; spending time learning from my mother and grandmothers. Grandfather, too. He was a Navy cook and boasted quite a repertoire.
