Did you read the New Scientist article on imaging stuffing yourself rather than doing so? Apparently the power of the mind is stronger than the stomach.
Research indicates that
indulging thoughts of eating a particular food may help us to eat less of the real thing.
If you have a problem stopping at one holiday cookie, imagine eating it bite by bite, and the power of your mind, should prevent you from gobbling up the entire dozen.
Granted, the original research was done with M&Ms, and so that could have skewed the whole thing. Just kidding. I don't like M&Ms, or chocolate, really, so using this technique to quell chocolate and sweet cravings may not be the best test for me.
We'll see about the savories.
